Kanchoo launches publishing services for native iPhone apps

Monday, July 20th, 2009

(Hong Kong, July 20, 2009)–Kanchoo LLC (www.kanchoo.com), a Hong Kong-based web services company, today announced the formal launch of publishing services for native iPhone applications.

The launch coincides with a major update to the Kanchoo content management system and publishing platform.

These new features, based on extensive consultation with Kanchoo’s beta trial participants, include several new tools to streamline workflow and improve efficiency such as XML support, improved server handling and increased options for customization.

Co-founder and company director J Aaron Farr said: “This update represents a significant leap forward in the development of the Kanchoo service offering. We’d like to thank our beta participants for their feedback and continued support.”

With the closure of the beta trial, Kanchoo begins formal paid services. Basic account holders pay just $88 USD for creation of their iPhone application and submission to the iTunes App Store, along with a $28 USD per month fee for bandwidth and hosting.

This compares with development costs that can run as high as 20,000 USD to build and deploy a native iPhone application.

Mr Farr said: “Kanchoo significantly lowers the barriers to entry for publishers. What we do is take worries out of development. This frees up publishers to do what they do best: focus on building an audience with their great content.”

(Hong Kong, March 6, 2009)—Kanchoo LLC (www.kanchoo.com), a Hong Kong-based web publishing services company, today launched beta trials of its “native iPhone application” publishing service.

The service provides content publishers the necessary tools to quickly build, deploy and manage a native iPhone application.

Kanchoo significantly lowers the barriers to entry for content publishers eyeing the rapidly growing market for iPhone content.

Co-founder and company director J Aaron Farr said: “Developing and deploying a native iPhone application can cost a publisher as much as 20,000 US dollars – and that’s just to establish a foothold, never mind the untold ongoing development costs for new feature development as the iPhone platform evolves.”

“What we do is take worries out of development. This frees up publishers to do what they do best: focus on building an audience with their great content.”

Limited beta trials were opened today ahead of a formal launch of services scheduled next quarter.

With the Kanchoo services, publishers can build and submit their branded application to the iTunes App Store in a matter of minutes. Stories and photos are easily updated via the online content management system.
